About Us
G & M Lunt has been an established name in Sheffield and North East Derbyshire for almost 80 years now.
The Funeral business itself was started on Meadowhead, Sheffield in 1932 by Mr. George Lunt ably assisted by his dear wife Mabel (Hence the G & M Lunt) it was the following year that they opened up their home on Camping Lane as a funeral directors premises.
Two of their children, Jack and Mary later joined the family business as funeral directors, whilst their other two children, Austin and Joan worked hard behind the scenes and together the whole family helped to develop the business until George's sad death in 1976.
It was in 1969 that today's current owner Michael started work as a funeral director's assistant under the watchful guidance of both George and Jack. Mary's son Andrew later joined the workforce and since Jack's death in 1987 Michael and Andrew have used their extensive knowledge of funeral directing to develop the business and premises together and during the past couple of years have added an extension, a service chapel and a brand new fleet of Volvo Hearses and Limousines, this gives the families we deal with all the modern comforts whilst still retaining the old fashioned traditional values and service that was the vision of George and Mabel all those years ago.
Our funeral home is family run, independent and as member of the National Association of Funeral Directors we adhere to a strict code of practice.
Every funeral we provide is a most personal occasion, and therefore we feel it is important reflect your particular requirements and circumstances in each individual service.
